How To: Mount a cifs share manually

Brief guide on how to mount a cifs share manually as a one off mounting.

# mkdir /mnt/windows-share
# mount -t cifs //server-name/share-name /mnt/windows-share -o username=shareuser,password=sharepassword

Alternatively username and password can be replaced by a lovely insecure .windowsserver file in:

/home/user/ containing 2 lines: user= and password=.
